Shanghai

View from the hotel window

Models of the new buildings in the center

Cartoons from the interwar period: everyday scenes un Shanghai. The hairdresser uses a charcoal blow-dryer.

This is the building where the first congress of the Communist Chinese Party was held.

Just across from that building.

The History Museum

Ancient bronze swords. "Ancient", in this case, is 2500 - 3000 years old.

Bronze bells

Behind the cauldron, a set of graded bronze bells. Confucius (about 500 BC) was very keen on traditional music on such instruments – it was traditional in his times, too.

The museum: several floors

Ironwork on the museum balconies, suggesting the almost abstract dragon incisions on ancient bronze.

The Bundt at nightfall

This was te European quarter of Shanghai, where the old, western style buildings were constructed. Across the river, the newest region of the city.

See Ma, no hands!

Silk Rug Factory

Older city and garden

Old and new Shanghai

Ancient, 20th century, 21th.

Dragon wall

When a beauty passes by, the fish all come up and forget to swim.

Precisely so!

Talk about flowery style ...

Rather cute (by mistake)
